You know that cliche from action movies…

…where bad things are going down, but the cute little animal makes it out in the nick of time?  The War Horse is an entire movie of that cliche.

As sappy as it is, I really quite liked the movie in general.  It’s kind of stunning to look at.

So now that I’ve seen all nine Best Picture nominees, here’s how I’d rank them:

1. Hugo
2. The Artist
3. Midnight In Paris
4. War Horse
5. Moneyball
6. The Help
7. The Tree Of Life
8. Extremely Loud And Incredibly Close
9. The Descendants

I’ll post my actual top ten of the year pretty soon; I still have a teeny bit more catching up to do.
