Zawmer

The name Zawmer

I made it up when I was in my 20s, when I was coming up with different little handles for different places I put my name.  The idea was to track where my junk mail was coming from.  For instance, I always knew that this one magazine gave some company my name because I subscribed to them as “Poose Meir Amaden”, and got lots of junk mail with that name.

I came up with “zawmer” as one of those, then it became my overall internet handle.  I just kind of like it, but it is completely meaningless.  When I came up with it, it sounded like it could maybe be an actual name for something, even though I invented it from scratch.  When you Bing it (What?  I BING stuff.  Fuck you.  Katie gets me!), there’s facebook profile for a guy named Zawmer from Sri Lanka, but most of it is just me.  Also, someone named Mohamed Zawmer friended me on Twitter saying, “wow, I though I was the only one named Zawmer!”
