Warm Minnesota Winter

It’s been a warm winter in Minnesota.  It’s been above freezing for most of the last week, which is unheard of in January.  And it’s made me realize something I like about winter.  It’s just a little thing.

I’m a very lazy homeowner.  I find it very easy to blow off the autumn-time task of raking the leaves in my front yard.  Whenever we get that first big snow, I just say to myself, “oops, I didn’t rake, and now a thick layer of snow will cover and slowly pulverize all of those leaves for the next four months, oh well.”  

But the couple of little snowfalls we’ve gotten have easily melted.  All those fucking leaves are still there.  Being annoying at me all winter long.  What is this, Kansas? 

“Toto, I think we’re not not-in-Kansas any more…”
